Star Trekking across the universe

Posted : 9 years, 1 month ago on 19 October 2009 12:51 (A review of Star Trek)

Star Trek has officially been Re-Booted. Abrams has revamped the Enterprise & brought Gene Roddenberry's classic world into the 21st Century.

Whether you are a die hard Trekker or not, this movie will not disappoint. A fun & visually stunning film with just the right balance of action & storyline. The crew are great & by the end of the movie you really want to go on more adventures with them.

The special effects for the Enterprise are out of this world & have fantastic attention to detail. On the bridge the technology reminded me of the instruments used in the film Minority Report, which gave it a more realistic rather than futuristic feel. Nicely done...Can't wait to see it on the IMAX screens.

TOS fan's can be rest assured the writers have kept to the Star Trek Canon, & in my opinion given it a good hyper-spray to the neck. Truly the movie all Trekkers have been waiting for; the one to share with the rest of the world. Watch for classic references throughout the film... Great introduction to Classic Films

Posted : 9 years, 2 months ago on 26 August 2009 08:25 (A review of It's a Wonderful Life (1946))

This film was one of the first classic films from yesteryear that introduced me to a world of great films from the legendary Frank Capra.
The feel good family story about destiny and one mans place in the world really opens up your mind and heart to the possibilities one can achieve in the short time we have. Jimmy Stewart is great in this.

For some reason Nicolas Cage's performance in Family Guy reminded me of this film, don't know why but there you go. There is nothing old about this movie. Absolute brilliant and inspirational...

Great film about hope

Posted : 9 years, 2 months ago on 26 August 2009 08:04 (A review of Umberto D. (1952))

A melancholy movie about a lonely pensioner struggling to survive in a pre WWII Italy with only his dog Flike to keep him company.
The use of real people (non actors) gave the film an authentic feel.
A great sentimental movie about growing old and loneliness.
Scenes with Flike the Miniature Fox Terrier are great.

A scene filmed at the Piazza del Popolo...[Link removed - login to see] [Link removed - login to see]
